I see a lot of people with the endless debates on the term "Assault weapon" What is it, what is it not? I would like to give my opinion. Assault weapons are: any weapon that can be used to assault..the definition is pretty clear you would think. But in the thick cloud of smoke it is hard to see. Some think assault weapons are those like the AR-15. In some others logical thinking, assault rifles are used by the military.

Well lets be real honest. Assault rifles used by the military are indeed assault weapons because they assault people. In the logical thinking used by so many that try to defend the term used on certain forms of semi-automatic weapons. To them, the term "Assault rifles" should not be used to describe rifles used by the military either, because they are actually standard service rifles. Machine guns, rifles that are categorized in between light machine guns, which are intended more for sustained automatic fire in a light support role, and sub-machine guns, which fire a pistol cartridge rather than a rifle cartridge. But hey the military use "assault rifles"..blah blah.

This is a debate I see over and over. Please do not waste time debating this. People I cannot urge you enough to please contact your local legislatures. Debating these things with certain people will never help anything. Getting your voice out there where it counts is so very important. Here is a useful tool to find your State legislatures. Please call, email, and write them. I can not put into words just how important this is. http://thomas.loc.gov/home/state-legislatures.html
